Vietnam has a growing metals industry. Steel production is spread across the country with mills in the north, centre, and south, and several producers listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE).
Specialised copper and aluminium operations are located in industrial belts around Hai Phong in the north, Ho Chi Minh City in the south, and around Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Foreign joint ventures form part of the country's production base.
The Vietnam Recycling Association is the industry body, working with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on import permits and waste classification.
